New Mask Guidelines + #FabricFriday
New Mask Guidelines
Some big news this week out of Ottawa with new guidelines being released for masks.
Updated recommendations are that masks:
- be made of at least 3 layers
- 2 layers should be tightly woven material fabric, such as cotton or linen
- the third (middle) layer should be a filter-type fabric, such as non-woven polypropylene fabric
I am proud to say that we have been following the science and that our masks have always had three layers. All masks that we make are made of high-quality quilting cotton, and include a polypropylene filter. Additional filters are available here .
Additionally, the government is asking all Canadians to consider wearing cloth masks to reduce the environmental impact of single use masks.
Lastly, I would like to acknowledge that this week has been tremendously stressful for everyone. From growing COVID case counts to political uncertainly, it feels as though we are all living in a heightened state.
No matter what you are doing this weekend, I would like to echo Dr. Bonnie Henry's words to remember to Be Kind to one another. Life is really hard right now. I hope we can each do what we can to spread kindness in our own lives.
Have a great weekend everyone! 😷❤️ And stay safe.
